Aftercare & Warnings
Proper care of a new tattoo will pay off in the long run. Using the correct aftercare procedures can make a huge difference. Below you will find some advice and tips for healing your fresh ink.
AFTERCARE:
Remove the bandage/wrap after 1-2+ hours
Wash with a non-scented anti bacterial handsoap (Dial rain water recommended)
Shower and wash the tattoo with a washed hand to cleanse the fresh wound. Don't scrape or rub roughly. Just enough to cleanse. Avoid baths or prolonged swimming for the first 3 weeks minimum. Don't use a bath towel to dry the tattoo, pat dry with a clean paper towel.
Apply a thin layer of tattoo aftercare balm (Tattoo Goo, Hustle Butter, Mad Rabbit, etc.). Don't apply too much and create a moist area, just rub it in until it has a thin layer. Too much gunked up can make healing take even longer. It's better to be on the light side than the heavy side. It needs to breath to heal!
After a few days to a week, switch to a non-scented white lotion (Lubriderm recommended or any tattoo brand lotion)
Use the lotion to heal the tattoo for the next month. Apply the lotion in the same fashion as the balm. Reapply lotion when it dries out and starts to peel, most people apply lotion to a fresh tattoo about 3-4 times max per day.
Don't peel or pick any scabbing that may occur. This is completely normal and is apart of the skin's healing process. Picking at the skin's attempt to heal can cause minor scarring. Just wash your tattoo and let it heal on it's own.
Always wear sunscreen with your new tattoo, even when it heals. It is especially important to not expose the fresh tattoo to the direct sun for prolonged periods of time. If you must do this, wear a high sun block sunscreen. SPF 45 or higher is recommended for summer time beach trips.
WARNINGS:
*AS STATED IN CONTRACT: Please note that these are general provisions. Each client heals differently and may have certain allergies or skin conditions. It is highly recommended by 1890 Tattoo Co. for each client to consult with a professional before using any product on your new tattoo. Please consult with a professional dermatologist before using any topical ointment or "numbing creams" before or while getting a tattoo. 1890 Tattoo Co. will not be held responsible if the client uses any such personal skin cream agents. We reserve the right to deny the use of numbing cream if deemed necessary. If the client needs to use a numbing cream or any topical cream it is at the client's own risk as stated in signed contract. It is highly recommended for the client to not use numbing cream for your tattoo.

1. Acknowledgment of pre-existing conditions, medications, and allergies
Please consult with us if you have any pre-existing conditions, medications, or allergies. Examples of conditions include:
Diabetes, *Allergies (metals, latex, soaps), HIV, Epilepsy, Heart Conditions, Skin Conditions, Organ or Bone Transplant recipients

1890 Tattoo Co. will not be held responsible for any reactions or infections occurring from your new tattoo, regardless of any pre-existing allergies or illness. By signing the consent form contract, the client understands that this is a known risk of receiving a tattoo: the possibility of infection or fading/scarring/rejection of ink to occur. The skin is not supposed to have black tattoo ink injected into it, so we are not to be held responsible if your skin tries to push it back out! (or develops an infection due to inserting a foreign ink substance into your blood stream knowingly).
2. Acknowledgment of the possibility of infection and agreement to follow aftercare routine
Please note that there is a risk of infection when receiving a tattoo, and that the client understands that by strictly following the aftercare routine provided they minimize the risk. 1890 Tattoo Co. will not be held liable for any infection or skin scarring caused by the client choosing to get a new tattoo; due to the fact that infection and skin scarring is a known danger/risk of the tattooing industry. Tattoos are permanent! We will not be held liable for any buyer's remorse or regretful decisions. Each client signs a contract stating that they are in a sound mind and not under the influence. The client acknowledges that the only way to remove the tattoo is through surgery or laser, which can not restore the skin back to its original appearance. Each client's records remain logged for a minimum of three years with an attached copy of valid identification. Should any client want to sue 1890 Tattoo Co., each clients record will have an attached agreement of design prior to the tattoo starting. Each tattoo is custom made by hand on computer software for each client, the client acknowledges this and understands that each tattoo will not be exactly perfect. Any flaws or errors that could be assumed by a non artistry standpoint are deemed invalid as these tattoos are each custom, hand-crafted artworks. No two tattoos will be the same, even if we tattoo the same picture twice. Each one will have its own unique details and style. The client understands this and signs for acknowledgment that each tattoo has its own look and/or differences about it. This is all a part of getting a hand made realism tattoo vs. a plain ol' print and stick tattoo!

This clause outlines that the tattoo colors, ink, pigments, and/or design may vary slightly and that the tattoo naturally fades over time. Following proper aftercare procedures is vital for how this can affect your new tattoo.
